Things to do before 35

So today 10/01/2019 is my 35th birthday. So what I'm going to do for todays blog is to do a "list". One of the things you see on Buzzfeed etc and see how many I have done. So here goes.....this might be a female orientated one but lets do it anyway.

1. Live alone.
Growing up with parents or mentors is great. Living with roommates and going out all night is also great. But nothing compares to spreading out and enjoying your own space in your own way, with just yourself to rely on.

Yes I have done this, I moved out when I was 18 and lived by myself pretty much until I met Alfie's mum when I was 26.

2. Break someone's heart...
It's not going to be something you enjoy doing, but sometimes we end up hurting others because we don't want the same things from life as they do. It sucks, but it's life.
Yeah done this a few times. sorry about that/

3. And, of course, get your heart broken.
You'll never forget the nights when you cry yourself to sleep, but those hard times will help define you.

Yeah i've had this done to me too.

4. But first, you have to fall in love.
Weak knees, butterflies in your stomach, sweaty palms... the whole thing.

Course.

5. Vote!
Our ancestors suffered so that you could exercise your rights. It's important! Don't skip it!

Always vote.

6. Spend some time alone... without looking at your phone.
Just enjoy your own company for once. Learn more about who you are.

Yes i had no choice as a kid as we didn't have phones.  But I used to do this regularly as a grown up.

7. Travel across the country.
It's important to get to know your culture, your roots, and the people who make up the place where you come from. It will make you a more understanding and emotionally intelligent person.

I've kinda done this, but not really.

8. But also, visit other countries and cultures.
Traveling broadens your horizons, and makes you more receptive to other people and cultures that are totally different from your own. You'll also learn how to be more self-sufficient.

Yes definitely done this, Peru, Cuba, Hong Kong. loads of places, love it.

9. Make mistakes, over and over again.
it's going to keep happening, but that's okay. Let it. The key is to learn from each mistake, and to grow from them.

Yes these keep happening.

10. Really identify who your true friends are.
It's okay to keep bad or problematic friends for a little while, but you'll reach a certain point where you'll realize who the real deals are, and who you can trust. Spend more time with those friends, and cut the shoddy ones loose.

Yeah i've only got a few friends/

11. And maybe lose someone you are close with in the process.
It's going to hurt like hell, but if someone is toxic, it's best to let them go. Only keep people around if they really value your friendship0

This happened when Alfie came along anyway, you find out who your friends are after having a kid.

12. Save.
Living day to day can be exhilarating and it might make you feel free, but it's great to hold onto some savings to get through the tough times. Don't even worry about saving a lot right away. Just a few bucks every now and then will help.

Yeah done that, do that. still doing that.

13. Get a tattoo, or fantasize about getting one.
Proudly display the ideas and images that inspire you. But if tattoos aren't your thing, that's okay too.

I've got loads. Full left arm sleeve.

14. Learn how to cook at least one meal.
When you turn 35, you should have a couple of good meals in your repertoire. It doesn't have to be the most complex dish in the world, but it's good to know how to make a few things.

One? i've got a few.

15. Kiss a stranger.
Adrenaline + temporary romance = magical moment. (Just be safe and conscientious about it, yeah?)

lol come see Craig circa 2005.

16. Devote yourself to something that fascinates you.
And if you can manage it, get paid to do so. The satisfaction of doing what you love is more fulfilling than you ever imagined.

Not yet, maybe what this blog is for?? I am really enjoying doing it.

17. Have an orgasm.
Even if you do it by yourself, it still counts!

lol? I think this is a ladies one. Orgasms are tough to come by. ha

18. Feel whole, and completely happy.
Just let go of your anxieties and inhibitions, even if it's just for a moment. Enjoy every second of that feeling.

working on this.

19. Go see your favorite band or musician in concert.
Save up and treat yourself to seeing them live. It's such a rush!

Yeah loads of times.

20. Negotiate a raise for yourself.
If you're doing a good job, why not get what you deserve?

yeah definitely done this.

21. Get out of debt.
Honestly? It sucks and it's stressful. But as soon as you're done paying off your debts, you'll be a whole new person.

this is tough with a mortgage.

22. Step out of your comfort zone.
It can be as small or as big as you want. Maybe it's something embarrassing, or daring, or even just something little that you never thought you'd do.

i like to think i've done this a few times.

23. Live in a different city from the one you grew up in.
It's an experience that will help you grow as an individual, and as an adult. And you're going to have a blast.

no never done this, apart from when i kinda used to live in Manchester with Izzy.

24. Find a good gynecologist who you're comfortable with, and visit them regularly.
Hopefully you'll take your health seriously by the time you're 35, but just in case, don't forget to take proper care of yourself.

LOL definitely a lady quiz... I've not had to have a gynaecological exam. ...yet

25. Travel alone.
It doesn't need to be a long trip, and you don't have to go anywhere fancy. Just as long as it's you and your soul, you don't need anyone else.

yep done this, only round the UK mind you.  Oh and that time i travelled to new york by myself.

26. Dramatically change your look.
Even if it's just temporary, why not go for it?

Yeah i used to shave my head.

27. Put together a toolbox and learn how to use everything in it.
It's freeing to be able to hang your own art, or change a lightbulb on your own, or to change a tire on your car without anyone's help.

I don't have a toolbox, so that is a no.

28. Do something for others.
Helping your fellow human and doing something altruistic is its own reward.

I like to think i do this alot.  Open doors for people, help old ladies with their bags, stopped a girl walking in front of a bus once.

29. Help a friend in a time of need.
It will be the ultimate test of your friendship, and will show how strong and giving you are as a friend.

I will always help my friends in need.

30. Raise a plant.
What better way to learn about growing up than by helping another living being grow up?

Yeah i used to grow onions and peppers. I had a whole garden.

31. Forgive your parents.
It's liberating to let go of past mistakes and to learn how to forgive. Accept them for who they are, mistakes and all.

My mum hasnt done anything.  the other one... well... i don;t think so.

32. Learn a new language.
It can help with your professional life, and it will make you seem like a well-rounded and educated individual.

I can speak Spanish fairly well and I love listening to French.

33. Have a wild stage.
Hook-ups, benders, partying, friends... just plain fun.

haha see Craig circa 2005 - 2009

34. Get to know and enjoy your sexuality.
Know yourself, and decide what you like and what you don't like without feeling afraid or guilty about it.

again, see Craig circa 2005-2009

35. Say goodbye to anything that brings you down.
Whatever it is: a bad partner, a lousy friend, a city you hate, a job you don''t love. By the time you're 35, fill your life with good vibes.

Working on this too, seems like new bad vibes come every so often.
